Dinokeng: Where the Wild Still Whispers
Set within the untamed beauty of the Dinokeng Game Reserve, Kira is more than a destination, it is a sanctuary of connection, renewal, and wonder.
The Dinokeng Game Reserve is Gauteng’s premier Big Five destination and the only free-roaming Big Five reserve in the province. It is just an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and 30 minutes from Pretoria. Its name, Dinokeng, meaning “a place of rivers” in Tswana, reflects the winding waterways that bring life to this magnificent wilderness.
Covering more than 20,000 hectares of pristine bushveld, Dinokeng is home to Africa’s iconic Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhino. Additional species include cheetah, giraffe, zebra, other plains game and over 300 bird species that thrive in diverse habitats.
